It’s first time I try to play music by this way, I invert the concept of MIDI hardware. I play the notes by openCV, so in the video you can see the melody is appeared when I trigger the drawers by my finger. Every grid of images is a particular MIDI note, my sliding movements and the numbers of drawer effect the sound as well.

The original idea is from my memories. When I was a kid, I like to go to my neighborhood who did chinese medical business. I saw one beautiful traditional medicine cabinet, the doctor always open and close it and taking some treasures out for saving people’s life. The sound from the drawer which is opened or closed was making good impression on me, it seems like some therapies inside as well.

I want to represent that moment to other people, so I start to do some work for this topic. This is the first one I did, it’s a experiment by realtime performance. After this I will develop the kind of real medicine cabinet and present it like a installation. It will be coming soon.
